Shaolin Temple

On Friday we took a tour of the Shaolin Temple.  I don't know anything about this place but Kyle wanted to go because evidently it is the birthplace of Kung Fu.  Kenz wanted to go because she thinks she is some sort of Kung Fu Master.  It is pretty hilarious.
Tour buses in the parking lot

The Pagoda Forest.  This is basically the monks cemetery.  But you have to be voted in by the other monks to have the privilege of being buried here.

 Temple entrance.
These trees where here when the temple was taken over and partially destroyed when the warlords came down from the north.  There are still bullet holes in the trees from where they lined people up and shot them.

The girls are into recording all that they see via pictures.
Room where they used to practice kung fu.  The floors have sunken areas where they used to stand and jump and whatever you do in kung fu.

Live Kung Fu show, the girls loved this!

Boys from all over China come to this temple to live and practice kung fu.  They live here year around, half their day is spent in school and the other half learning and practicing kung fu.
On Saturday morning we got up and left for Guangzhou.  It was a short 2 hour flight but Jaxon struggled big time.  I think that his ears must have been bothering him.  But we got through it and now we have a week in Guangzhou to get his American visa.  Yay!  The hotel is nice and has a pool which the girls are super excited about!

Everyone swimming.  It is a little cool here, but the pool is heated so it isn't too bad.  Not that it would matter to the kids!  But it helps Kyle and I survive the daily swims :)
